Within the manifold of your BMW you will find these little blighters referred to as Swirl Flaps. Designed to produce a swirl of air to aid combustion when the engine is under light load; the flaps are held in place by two screws, unfortunately as the swirls move over time these screws can loosen or the spindles; making their way in to your engine.

This in-turn can do a number of things; jam open the valve port causing the piston to collide with the valve, enter the cylinder itself ending the life of the engine and even after leaving the engine further damage can be caused to the exhaust system! Game over for your vehicle!

Our blanking plates simply directly swap for your existing swirl flaps, simply push in and screw in place. And the best bit.. you will notice no difference in performance from you vehicle, you may even notice an improvement if your swirl flaps have begun deteriorating.

There are two sizes of swirl flaps fitted to BMW vehicles 22mm and 33mm; as a general guide pre 2005 models are normally fitted with 22mm size, 2005-2006 either size could be fitted to your vehicle, 2006+ 33mm likely to be fitted. There can be exceptions to this, the only way to be 100% sure of the size fitted to your vehicle is to remove the intake manifold and measure.

Note:

  Smaller swirl flaps (22 mm), designed for vehicles manufactured up to 2003.(If you need, please contact us freely)

  Larger swirl flaps (33 mm), designed for vehicles manufactured since 2005 which are on sale in this link.

  You need to measure the hole in the manifold for engines made in 2004. In 2004 were used two sizes of swirl flaps.

  However, there are exceptions to this rule and an explicit statement is not possible.

Specification:

• 100% quality assurance tested, more responsive, less expensive, easier to install.

• The material of the end caps is the same as of the intake manifold, additionally reinforced with glass fibre. Hardness and durability comparable to that of aluminum.

• Lack of differences in the thermal expansion between the manifold and the end caps.

• O-Ring, resistant to engine oils, and high and low temperature.

• Manifold gaskets resistant to engine oils, and high and low temperature.

• FOR BMW swirl flaps commonly fail in such a way that they either: drop an affixing screw and or the upper section of the spindle. If this does not stop the engine, the remaining swirl flap falling completely into the engine will!

• The outcome of such failure is not pretty in the slightest.

• Luckily this problem is easy to correct by simply removing the swirl flaps.

• That means both inlet manifold tracts are constantly open.

• The result: no perceived difference in performance or fuel consumption and cleaner running due to the elimination of ‘dead spots' in the inlet tract.
